About Sydney

A born and raised Maritimer, Sydney Somers fell in love with writing at the age of eight. Since finishing her first book in 2002, Sydney has written over twenty-five romances—one of which will forever remain hidden under her bed.

When she’s not tracking down remote controls, chasing after her three very energetic children or exterminating rogue dust bunnies, Sydney can be found curled up with a good book or working on her next sexy paranormal romance.  She loves to hear from readers and invites them to
e-mail her anytime.
FAQ

What are you working on now?

Right now I'm working on the next Pendragon Gargoyles book and the fourth Shadow Destroyer book, Rae's story.

Do I need to read your series books in order?

No. The stories stand well on their own, but are probably best enjoyed read in order.

How many books are planned for your Shadow Destroyer and Spellbound series?

There will be five books in total for my Shadow Destroyer series and six for Spellbound.

What’s your typical writing day like?

Well, there's never anything typical about it actually. LOL I've got three kids who keep me pretty busy. I have a word goal I try to reach every day. Sometimes I hit it, sometimes I don't. Most days I squeeze in a few hundred words during nap time and hopefully another thousand in the evening.

How long does it take you to write a book?

It varies. A novella can take me anywhere from two to four weeks to get a solid first draft finished. My full lengths take me anywhere from two to three months. Usually there's also revisions or final line edits for completed books that need to be done while I'm working on something new.

What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Read. Read. Read. Write. Write. Write.

Are your books available in print?

Most of them are. Right now a couple novellas are only available in eBook, but the rest are available in print at book stores or from your favorite online retailer.

What happened to your Watchtowers series?

The rights to the series were owned by Triskelion Publishing, which unfortunately went under in 2007.

This came in an e-mail and it made me smile

A girl asked a guy if he thought she was pretty...
He said no.
She asked him if he would want to be with her forever....
And he said no.
She then asked him if she were to leave would he cry,
And once again he replied with a no.
She had heard enough. As she walked away, tears streaming down her face. The boy grabbed her arm and said....
You're not pretty, you're beautiful.
I don't want to be with you forever. I NEED to be with you forever!
And I wouldn't cry if you walked away... I'd die.
